Well, I did it. I ran the BolderBoulder on Monday, my 27th birthday.
I was hoping to do it under an hour but I finished at 68 minutes but still, I'm happy with the results. Two months ago, I couldn't run tw0 miles without stopping. So, I have to push myself from here on out.
At first, I felt retarded to pay $50 to run. I mean, it's kinda silly but I guess you are paying for the experience.
I ran at 7:30 a.m. so that meant getting up around 6 a.m. so I could catch the bus and have plenty of time to wonder around.
I was aiming for 10 minute miles but the race was mostly uphill so that set me back. As I ran into Folsom Stadium, I was completely exhausted and had no kick left in me. But that meant I ran hard.
I did feel like I was back in cross country, with fellow runners pushing you on and the excitement of running. Like a lot of things, running isn't about finishing it's about doing it.
I felt like I could have pushed it more in the earlier miles and I could have gone without the 15 second walks I allowed myself. But there is always next year.
Below are my results:
- division place:
- 357 out of 477
- gender place:
- 13659 out of 22100
- mile 1:
- 0:09:31.70
- mile 2:
- 0:10:35.45
- mile 3:

- mile 4:
- 0:11:20.51
- mile 5:
- 0:11:04.90
- mile 6:
- 0:11:08.83
- net time:
- 1:08:04.48
- pace:
- 10:58 (based on net time)
