Back again in Colorado

After spending a year and a half in California, i have returned to Fort Collins. It was strange, as I was driving in, I just felt like I was returning home. I lived in this town for six years, most were great and but all were memorable.

True, I don't have a job lined up for me yet but until I find one I am going to make the most of my free time - seeing olds friends, hiking, tubing and just enjoying my days in Fort Collins.

For the longest time I considered my time in California a complete bust. My job didn't work out, things ended horribly with my girlfriend (the main reason for heading west) but I can't look at it that way. I don't regret the move. I met the most incredible group of people out there that I will never forget. And I moved to try to make things work with the girl that I thought was going to be it - I still wouldn't have had it any other way. You just have to make the most of each experience.

The Fort hasn't changed much. A new store here and there but for the most part, it is as I remembered. I forgot how friendly the people are here. Such a big change from living in Salinas. Both cities are the same size but Salinas was just a poor excuse for a city. There was hardly anything I can say positive about the town - high crime rate, poor image, high cost of living and the fact that it was largly comprised of immigrants. Now, I'm making a political statement but when you have a majority of a city that doesn't speak the language and doesn't seem interested in being a part of the city, it seem leaves a sense of tension. But, I'm here - where I call home now.

For the summer, I am living with my friends from my fraternity. These guys are great. Not much has changed - for good or worse. I'm renting a room from my friend Ike. He's a good guy.

Well, tomorrow plans are to go to the Post Office and do a change of address form (something I forgot to do in California), start the job search, look for a cheap bike and maybe finish my book, "The English Patient" in Oldtown.
